- 200 grams sourdough discard (unfed, at room temperature)
- 1 egg (lightly beaten)
- Fresh herbs: parsley or rosemary
- Both melted and softened butter
- Garlic powder
- Kosher salt
Instructions
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine warmed milk, instant yeast, and sugar. Add flour, sourdough discard, beaten egg, chopped herbs, garlic powder, and salt.
- Mix on low speed and gradually add melted butter until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 3–4 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
- Prepare the topping by mixing softened butter with chopped herbs, garlic powder, and salt.
- Divide the risen dough into twelve equal pieces. Flatten each piece, spread with the topping mixture, fold like a taco, and place in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350℉.
- Bake for 30 minutes covered with foil; then bake an additional 5–10 minutes until golden brown.
