  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 cup reduced sodium beef broth
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1 diced green pepper
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • Hamburger buns (6)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1.5 tsps beef bouillon
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Butter or mayo for brushing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Cut hamburger buns in half and spread butter or mayo on each half; toast for about 5 minutes.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium flame and cook ground beef with diced onion and green pepper until browned.
  4. Stir in garlic for an additional two minutes.
  5. Mix beef broth, cornstarch, and bouillon in a bowl; pour into skillet and combine.
  6. Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, red pepper flakes, salt, and other spices; stir well.
  7. Sprinkle cheddar cheese into the mixture until melted.
  8. Spoon into toasted buns topped with provolone cheese; bake for another 10 minutes until bubbly.
