  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp anise extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp anise extract
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add anise extract and eggs one at a time; mix well. Stir in milk until combined.
  4. Gradually add flour, mixing until fully incorporated. Then add baking powder and salt.
  5. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  6. Scoop about 1.5 tablespoons of dough for each cookie and place on sheets with space between.
  7. Bake for 10-15 minutes until tops are dry; cool slightly before transferring to a rack.
  8. Decorate with glaze made from powdered sugar, anise extract, and milk.
