Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak
- 3 tbsp soy sauce (divided)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 yellow onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (for sauce)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Optional: grated ginger, green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the sliced beef with 2 tbsp soy sauce, cornstarch, rice vinegar, and sesame oil for at least 15 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce by whisking together remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and water or broth until smooth.
- Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat and cook marinated beef until browned (2–3 minutes per side). Remove from skillet.
- Add another tablespoon of oil; stir-fry bell peppers and onion for about 3–4 minutes. Add garlic (and ginger if using) and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Return beef to the skillet, pour in the prepared sauce, and cook until thickened (2–3 minutes).
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
